FOUR CENTURIES OF MUSIC FROM THE BRITISH ISLES
Friday, March 15, 7pm
Join Fifth Reel at the Art Center for an evening featuring the sounds and lore of four centuries of music from the British Isles. Enjoy the traditional songs, haunting melodies and lively dance music of the Celtic lands of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, as well as the stately and elegant music played in English ballrooms of Jane Austen’s time. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, join us on Friday, March 15 at 7pm.
Fifth Reel has been playing for contra dances, Robert Burns celebrations, weddings, parties, and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations since 1996. The band produced a CD in 1999 under its former name “Blarney Pilgrim.” Consisting of piano, fiddle, clarinet, saxophone, hammered dulcimer, bodhran and vocals, Fifth Reel plays a variety of music including Irish, Scottish, American Old Time and Jazz.
