About the Juror

Juror: Katie Caron

Katie Caron is a Director and Department Chair for the Art & Design Center at Arapahoe Community College. She earned a BS and minor in Theater Arts at Boston University in 2000 and an MFA at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2011.

Caron has been terrified and intrigued by the mysterious shapes life creates and the variety and textures of the natural world. Elaborate and repetitious, biological shapes emerged in response to a violent and difficult process of selection, far removed from the familiar pastoral depictions of nature so common in Western art.

Caron created Apoptosis in collaboration with Martha Russo for the Denver Art Museum’s exhibition Overthrown: Clay Without Limits. She exhibits nationally, completing site-specific installations for Project Miami, Santa Fe Art Institute, University of Michigan, Bowling Green State University, University of Northern Colorado, Redline Art Space, Republic Plaza, Meow Wolf, and the University of Colorado Center for Bioethics. She was recently reviewed in Daria Magazine for her solo exhibition, Neuron Forest, at the Dairy Art Center in the September 2023 issue. Katie Caron resides in Littleton, CO, with her family.
