A Juried Exhibition of Artists from the FARM (Fruita Arts Recreation Marketplace)
Juried by Ami Purser
First Friday opening August 2
Join us at The Art Center for the exhibition Cultivating Creativity featuring the artists from Fruita Arts Recreation Marketplace (FARM). FARM was started by owners Gavin Brooke and Alleghany Meadows when it opened its doors in December of 2022. In the past year and a half, it has grown to feature a range of creative arts, recreation, and entrepreneurship in the Grand Valley. FARM is a location for artists to begin their journeys, expand their creative endeavors, and become a long-term home for local businesses and studios. The community aspect of FARM encourages group development and working with each other to grow and expand as all the artists seek to explore a variety of creative pursuits and broaden their artistic process.
This exhibition is juried by native Colorado artist Ami Purser. Purser’s work is heavily influenced by process. The color palette and textures found in the natural landscape of the Colorado desert inspire her. She explores art creation through meditative mark-making and experimentation with a wide variety of materials, including paper, wood, canvas, and concrete substrates, often creating a fresco-like surface. Purser explains in her artist statement, “As I work, I think about relationships and also larger universal human connections. The materials that I choose, in a way, are mimicking relationships as they work with and against each other.”
Come check out Cultivating Creativity to get a glimpse at what the artists and creatives at FARM are capable of and what they have been working on lately in their studios. This exhibition will feature a wide range of mediums and will showcase the artists and small businesses that have been cultivated by the Fruita FARM community.
