The Western Colorado Center for the Arts engages with the Grand Valley community on several levels. In addition to educational programs and collaborations with local artists on exhibitions in-house, we provide a steady rotation of exhibits to other community institutions. Usually three months long and featuring work from the Art Center’s Permanent Collection, these exhibits brighten hallways and, hopefully, the days of those who pass by. They create an opportunity to spotlight acquisitions that may not receive attention otherwise and experiment with uncommon pairings and juxtapositions. Everyone should be able to enjoy the art histories that make up our collection. Below are the outreach exhibits currently on display:

Group Artist Statement:

Raven Mavens is a group of eleven fiber artists unified by their intent to nurture, support, and produce new and original fiber and mixed media art and to develop opportunities to exhibit their work and their individual creativity.

The group is passionate about studying and implementing a wide range of techniques, based on extensive study and experimentation within the textile and mixed media realm of art.

Over the past five years, Raven Mavens has exhibited group shows of various themes and dimensions. The group’s use of surface design and unique display methods of fiber artwork sets their exhibitions apart.

Individually, Raven Maven members have shown work in national and international exhibitions in Japan, England, IL, PA, CA, TX, NC, KY, AK, KS, CO, NJ, and NY, and have been published in numerous publications.

This exhibition represents the many techniques and methods the Raven Mavens incorporate to create art.
