Endless Inspiration
Pastel Society of Colorado 2023 Members’ Show
August 4-25

The Pastel Society of Colorado was founded in 1994 to promote pastel artists, the medium of soft pastel, and the appreciation of pastel painting. Today, the organization has grown into one of the larger pastel societies in the country with over 300 members from all over Colorado and surrounding states. The Pastel Society of Colorado actively supports its members with monthly meetings, regular plein air events open to anyone interested, several juried shows every year, in-depth pastel workshops taught by well-known pastel artists/instructors, and an annual non-juried Members’ Show which is open to all members. For more information or to become a member, please go to our website: pastelsocietyofcolorado.org.

The Pastel Society is pleased to have Doug Dawson as our awards judge this year. Mr. Dawson is a member of the Master Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies, is in the Pastel Society of America’s Hall of Fame, and has been awarded the title of “Master Pastelist” by the Pastel Society of America. He has also received awards from a number of art organizations including the Southeastern Pastel Society, National Academy of Western Art, Pastel Society of the West Coast, Pastel Society of New Mexico, Audubon Artists, and Pastel Society of the Southwest.

The title “Endless Inspiration” was chosen for the 2023 Members’ Show because, as artists, we perceive our environment and respond in an infinite number of ways. Beauty and variety surround us, whether it’s the reflection of the sunlight on the water of a favorite mountain lake, the vibrant colors of a summertime farmers’ market, or the geometric shape of the planes of a human face – there is a never-ending source of inspiring subject matter in the world we inhabit. The Pastel Society of Colorado encourages you to join us in celebrating the magnificence of our visual world through the art of pastel.
